Vincent is currently CEO of PPTV.com, the largest online TV provider in China, with 130 million user installation base and 45 million active users per month. PPTV is known as a world leader in offering a scalable distributed peer based video streaming platform. Prior to PPTV, Tao is Director with Microsoft Online Services Division, responsible for the global business strategy and product development for MSN online services. He has led a number of initiatives in product development, market strategy, business partnerships and M&A deals for the Greater China Region. Vincent was Founder/CEO of GeoTango, acquired by Microsoft in 2005. GeoTango is a developer of GlobeView, a 3D earth mapping system (two years ahead of Google Earth). GeoTango’s products were widely used by U.N. organizations, and large enterprises in 12 countries or regions. Its technology was quoted as ‘the most innovative geospatial technology’ by the leading industry magazine, GeoInformatica in 2005. Prior to his entrepreneur venture, Vincent held eminent Canada Research Chair Professor position at York University, Toronto. Vincent was recognized by his peers as a world-class expert in location based services, sensor networks and image intelligence. Vincent has authored and co-authored over 200 technical papers, and holds a number of technical patents. Before his academic career, Vincent was a Venture Office responsible for the investment in high-tech industry and Chief Technologist of a start-up company. Vincent has received over a dozen of awards and distinctions for his achievements. Vincent is the Executive Board Member of many organizations. He is frequent speakers in international conferences and events, and he is widely quoted in media, TV, newspaper and on-line news.
