Vincent Tao, PhD CEO PPTV Online TV
Vincent Tao, PhD, now assumes the role of CEO of PPTV Online TV. Under his leadership, PPTV launched a “one cloud and multi terminals” Online TV service. He raised 250 million dollars from Softbank Group for PPTV, setting the largest single financing record in China’s Internet industry. Vincent Tao is a legendary “cross-over” in China’s Internet industry. He established GeoTango in 2001 and launched GlobeView online 3D mapping system (more than 3 years earlier than Google Earth). When working at Microsoft, he created Microsoft Virtual Earth and launched several innovative products including Street View, which became the flagship product of Microsoft’s online business. Prior to his entrepreneur venture, Dr. Vincent Tao is an authority and expert in international mapping field. He became a lifelong professor at the age of 32 and was appointed as the eminent Canada Research Chair Professor at York University at 33. He is also the founder of Tao Engineering Scholarship. He has published 200 papers and owned several technical patents. With rich professional experience, Vincent Tao worked as Canada’s specially-appointed advisor for the United Nations. He was also an independent director of several enterprises, executive of board of directors in international associations and organizations and visiting professor of five universities.
